I spent years waiting for the win to arrive. The close. The exit. The number that would finally prove I'd made it. I thought the win was a destination you reached after enough deals, enough revenue, enough proof that you weren't faking it.
I was wrong.
The win isn't waiting at the end of the quarter. It's not in the bank account or the term sheet or the moment you can finally exhale. The win is what happens inside you today. Right now. In the middle of the pressure.
When Tallbridge was at its height, I thought I was winning. Sixty-five employees. Multi-million dollar profits. The external markers said I'd arrived. But internally, I was hollow. I was building evidence of my worth instead of living from it. The business was thriving, but I was performing. And when it all collapsed — partner gone, savings gone, staff cut to eighteen — I realized I'd never actually won anything. I'd just been running faster.
The bathroom floor at 2am wasn't rock bottom. It was clarity. The question I couldn't outrun anymore: what if the win was never about the outcome?
The Win You Can Claim Right Now
Here's what I know now. The win is the decision you make when no one's watching. It's the call you make from faith instead of fear. It's the moment you choose to lead from the soul instead of the panic. The win is showing up today as the person who already has what you're building toward — not because you're pretending, but because you've stopped waiting for permission to become it.
I've closed deals that felt like losses because I made them from desperation. And I've had quiet Tuesdays with no revenue that felt like victories because I operated from alignment. The marketplace doesn't care about your internal state — until it does. People feel what you're leading with. Fear or faith. Scarcity or certainty. You can't fake the frequency.
The win is today because today is the only place where you have creative power. Tomorrow is a concept. Yesterday is a memory. But today — right now — you can choose the identity you're operating from. You can choose to be the person who already knows it's done, even when the evidence hasn't arrived yet.
That's not positive thinking. That's not manifesting. That's deciding that your worth isn't tied to the scoreboard. The win is internal first. Always.
I write about this every week in the Win The Day dispatch — the difference between building from fear and building from knowing. Not theory. What's actually working while I'm still in it.
The question isn't whether you'll close the deal or hit the number. The question is: who are you today, regardless of whether you do?
